Eiffel Tower Stadium, Featuring Beach Volleyball.

30 August 2023

For the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, beach volleyball is moving into the city to the Eiffel Tower Stadium, a unique and innovative concept introduced for next year’s Games. The stadium will be constructed on the Champ de Mars, a vast green space in front of the Eiffel Tower, providing a breathtaking setting for the matches.

Beach volleyball first surfaced in Hawaii in 1915, though most people believe it originated in Southern California. It was initially played recreationally on the beaches of Santa Monica and Venice. By the 1950s, it had gained enough popularity to be played competitively, and tournaments started taking place.

The sport made its competitive Olympic debut in 1996 at the Atlanta Games. Since then, it has become one of the most exciting and watched events in the Olympics. The sport's fast-paced nature, skillful plays, and the picturesque backdrop of the beach make it a crowd favorite.

Paris 2024 aims to combine sports and culture, and the Eiffel Tower Stadium is a prime example of how this will be achieved.
